Owls of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem | Summer Speaker Series 2025

Join us for our final Summer Speaker Series presentation of the season on Owls of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem with Katy Duffy on Thursday, September 18 from 7-8pm. All Speaker Series events take place at Yellowstone Forever headquarters across from the Roosevelt Arch.

Description:
Have you heard hoots in the night? Have you seen owls in your yard or in the park? Are you wondering which kinds of owls are here, how they make a living, what they eat and where they nest? Look at images of the owl species found within Yellowstone and throughout our ecosystem. Listen to their often strange-sounding vocalizations and discover why they make these sounds.

Bio:
Katy Duffy has taught numerous Yellowstone Institute classes on birds and other aspects of natural history. She has conducted field studies, including banding projects, of owls, diurnal raptors and songbirds in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem for more than 35 years. She worked as a supervisory resource education ranger for the NPS in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks for 32 years and has a M.S. in ecology from Rutgers University.
